An IRS whistleblower who reportedly is investigating the Hunter Biden laptop case has spoken publicly for the first time about the probe.
Gary Shapley, who's been with the agency for 14 years, said he was so concerned about the prosecutors' handling of "a high profile, controversial" probe that he felt obligated to speak up about it.
"There were multiple steps that were slow-walked — were just completely not done — at the direction of the Department of Justice," Shapley told CBS. "When I took control of this particular investigation, I immediately saw deviations from the normal process. It was way outside the norm of what I've experienced in the past."
Shapley spoke out publicly after three years of investigation into Hunter Biden's business dealings.
The investigation is focused on possible crimes in connection to outstanding tax debts in reference to funds earned from a questionable stay as a board member for Ukrainian energy company Burisma while his father, current President Joe Biden, was vice president and a possible false statement in connection to a gun purchase.
CBS previously reported that the outstanding debts were paid by Hollywood attorney Kevin Morris.
Though an FBI leak showed that agents have enough evidence to file criminal tax charges, no charges has been filed.
Shapley said he became concerned about the potential cover-up that was going on in connection to Hunter Biden's dealings.
