Dorset Council respond to 'false' claims about A30 Kitt Hill works - Dorset Live

Dorset Council has issued a fiery response to what it says are “false” claims about its response to the A30 Kitt Hill roadworks. letter about the controversial works in Sherborne where he claimed the council had failed the residents of the house at the centre of it all.

Mr Loder’s letter alleged the elderly couple, whose house being hit by a lorry started the saga, had been “pressured” by the council to fork out thousands to the council for temporary traffic lights on the road. He further accused Sherborne West councillor Matthew Hall of being “absent” from the local area in its time of need.

Mr Loder also accused Dorset Council of jumping the gun by issuing a press statement about how works would finally begin earlier this month, just after the one-year anniversary of the lorry striking the couple’s home. He further said the council should act quicker to get the works finished.

In response, a spokesperson has aired their disappointment at Mr Loder’s handling of the situation, specifically at his suggestion the council was responsible for repairing the wall, the structural integrity of which is the reason the road remains partly closed.

The response begins: “It is disappointing that Mr Loder did not contact the Council to check the facts before writing. If he had done so then he could have avoided the false impression that Dorset Council is responsible for repairing the property owner’s wall and that the Council is responsible for the delays.
