A criminal investigation into senior prison service officials accused of breaching new laws that protect whistleblowers has concluded with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) deciding that no one should be charged.
In the first investigation of its kind since the new laws were enacted, detectives probed allegations that senior officials in the Irish Prison Service (IPS) hindered a retired prison officer from making protected disclosures.
