JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Nihayatul Wafiroh, said his commission targets the discussion of the Draft Law on Employment to be completed before October 2026 or in accordance with the mandate of the Constitutional Court Decision Number 168/PUU-XXI/2023.
"Yes, before October it must be completed, because October is the maximum according to the Constitutional Court," said Ninik, as he is affectionately called, in Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.
In addition, he said the Employment Bill is targeted to be completed in 2026 to support President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to labor elements on May 1, 2026 or on the International Labor Day.
"That was also promised by the President yesterday, on Labor Day," he said.
Meanwhile, he said that during the RI DPR trial period from May 12 to July 21, 2026, Commission IX has scheduled a number of meetings to discuss the Employment Bill.
"We will call representatives from Apindo (Association of Indonesian Entrepreneurs), because Apindo is specific in several fields, and every field of entrepreneurs must have different aspirations as well," he said.
He also said that Commission IX of the DPR RI would call representatives from workers' associations or workers to academics.
"Yesterday, only two academics were called. So, we will call the academics again," he said.
