Independent gubernatorial candidate Mike Duggan's campaign says it was an error when a social media post Sunday night falsely claimed multiple unions had endorsed the ex-Detroit mayor, the Detroit News reports.
Andrea Bitely, the campaign spokeswoman, said the tweet was an error and was deleted Monday morning.
Duggan's campaign listed the United Auto Workers Local 412, the Teamsters, the Operating Engineers and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Craig Mauger of The News reports.
“Fifteen labor unions didn’t endorse me to help one party or the other,” Duggan’s account said. “They endorsed me because I deliver for working people.
