East Liverpool council approves mayor's appeals board appointments - The Review

EAST LIVERPOOL — During Monday’s council meeting, President John Torma read a letter from Mayor Greg Bricker requesting approval for his appointments to establish the East Liverpool Board of Commercial Buildings Appeals.

Those appointed by the mayor and approved with an all-in-favor vote by council include Mario Hernandez for a term through July 31, 2024; Reese Kelly whose term would expire July 31, 2024; Tim Brooks whose term would expire July 31, 2025; Tom Clark whose term would expire July 31, 2025, and Tracy Hyatt whose term would expire July 31, 2026.

Police Chief John Layne, Safety/Service Director David Dawson and Bricker were not present at the meeting.

Fire Chief Bill Jones noted that the fire department’s new ambulance is tentatively scheduled to be delivered on July 14.

Jones also updated council on the ambulance service started by the fire department on April 5. Since April 5, the department has run 311 EMS calls and of those 311 calls they have transported 242 patients.

On June 23, the fire department received its credentials from Medicare to begin billing through Medicare. Jones said the others such as Medicaid should follow soon.

As of June 30, the department has $189,989 in charges that will be going out. The department can only bill for patients that are transported. Responders at times do go outside the city to provide services. Those outside the city needing services are charged full price. City residents are only required to pay what their insurance...
