NEW DELHI: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday alleged that Enforcement Directorate (ED) had forcibly obtained "false statements" from people in the Delhi excise policy case.
"ED, which is presented as the most powerful agency, takes statements by pressuring people and their family members," Singh claimed, adding that he would raise the issue before the privilege committee of Parliament.
Alleging that ED sleuths have beaten up one Chandan Reddy so badly during interrogation that he is facing hearing loss, Singh said Reddy had moved Telangana High Court against ED. Singh showed purported copies of Reddy's medical certificate and said he would raise this matter, too, before the committee.
CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted later, "The allegations levelled by Sanjay Singh against ED are very serious."
Delhi BJP hit back, saying AAP had failed to create a public perception that Sisodia was innocent. "In sheer frustration, Sanjay Singh has levelled allegations on independent investigative agency ED, with dual intent to pressurise it to go soft in the Sisodia case and create a public perception that ED is not acting fair," spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said. AAP fears that the rope of law may reach Kejriwal soon, he claimed.
