E&E NEWS PM | Democratic lawmakers are reaching out to whistleblowers as several websites for agency watchdogs remain dark.
Members of the House Judiciary Committee stood up a webpage Thursday that shares complaint hotlines and archived screenshots so the public can access inspectors general across the government. Websites for many of the inspectors general offices are offline after the Office of Management and Budget, led by Russ Vought, cut funding to their oversight council.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the panel’s ranking member, said the Trump administration was working to silence the government watchdogs, which root out waste, fraud and abuse with investigations and audits at their agencies.
“The money for these websites has already been appropriated and is available right now,” Raskin said in a statement. “We’re demanding that Russ Vought release these funds immediately and stop this blatant cover-up of the rampant corruption and lawlessness that have defined this administration.”
Yet the White House budget office is not reversing its decision.
