EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — An El Paso man who was arrested last week faces up to 10 years in federal prison.
Orlando Solis, 46, allegedly sent obscene material to an undercover employee with the Army Criminal Investigative Division who posed as a 13-year-old girl.
According to the criminal complaint for Solis, Solis communicated with the undercover employee on "Whisper," a social media platform, in January.
The undercover employee made a post on Whisper on January 23 posing as a fictitious 13-year-old girl.
The posted depicted a cartoon drawing of a female in a bed and included the text, "Fort Bliss or for boring," with an emoji sad face.
On the same day, Solis reportedly used the profile name "dog_code" to send a direct response to the undercover employee that read, "yeah that's about right."
The undercover employee identified themselves to Solis as a 13-year-old girl.
Solis allegedly asked if they could text instead of messaging on "Whisper."
Solis asked for the undercover employee's number, which the undercover employee provided.
The two communicated with each other on "TextNow," a Internet protocol based telephone carrier that uses a hybrid of Wi-Fi and cellular technology to create a virtual telephone number for sending messages, making calls, and browsing the web.
Solis was accused of sending inappropriate images of himself and inappropriate messages to the undercover employee.
