Emilie Kiser is addressing critics head-on amid continued scrutiny of her and her husband, Brady Kiser, over their approach to water safety.
Last month, the influencer and her husband faced backlash after their 17-month-old son, Teddy, was pictured without a life jacket while on a boat. The couple’s older son, Trigg, died last year after drowning in the family’s backyard pool in Arizona.
Emilie was not home at the time of Trigg’s drowning, and he was being cared for by Brady. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office later declined to file charges against Brady.
In a TikTok posted on Friday, Aug. 14, Emilie took responsibility for the couple’s mistake and reaffirmed their commitment to water safety.
“I know that I have made mistakes, and I know that I am an imperfect human, and that sometimes I say or I do things that can be confusing,” Emilie began her video. “Over the course of the last year, our family has been no stranger to tragedy and how quickly life can change.”
She acknowledged that Trigg’s drowning was “preventable” and said she will “forever and always take accountability for the ways that we went wrong and the things that we didn’t do, and we have so much hindsight now of things that we wish we did differently.”
Emilie went on to explain that, although it was not an excuse, Teddy was without a life jacket for “moments” while on the boat because he was fussy and she and Brady were trying to calm him down.
