Wednesday's (August 2) episode of Emmerdale saw Amelia Spencer confronted by Victoria over her plan to make a false allegation of sexual assault.

Previous episodes have seen Amelia become increasingly worried about her dad Dan Spencer's future, as he faces trial for his one-punch assault on her stalker Lloyd Sawyer.

While only 3% to 4% of reported sexual assaults in England and Wales come from false allegations, according to Full Fact, they can have a massive impact on how true allegations are handled by the police.

In Wednesday's episode, Victoria opened up to Amelia about the outcome of her own sexual assault case and why false allegations are so damaging.

Amelia rehearsed her statement with Sarah, hoping that her accusations against Lloyd would be enough to help her father's case. "I can't lose my dad," she stressed.

However, her plans are soon uncovered by Dan and Victoria, who were left horrified by the seriousness of the situation

The pair rushed to the police station and intervened just as Amelia was about to begin her interview. "You can't do this," Dan pleaded, while Amelia become increasingly frustrated over the situation.
