Employment Services Board holds inaugural meeting to orientate new members - Devdiscourse

The Department of Employment and Labour’s Employment Services Board (ES Board) is holding its inaugural meeting to orientate its new Board members at Kievits Kroon Wine Estate in Pretoria.

The two-day meeting, which commenced yesterday and concludes today, is also aimed at handing over the previous Board’s report from its inception and for the newly established ES Board to hold its first meeting.

The ES Board is an advisory body to the Minister of Employment and Labour and, among other things, is responsible for:

Work opportunities;

The criteria for the registration and de-registration of private employment agencies and the implementation and enforcement of the provisions of this Act applicable to private employment agencies;

The development of criteria and guidelines for the implementation of this Act and the exercise of any function in terms of this Act;

The promotion of supported work for persons with disabilities as contemplated by Chapter 6;

Any regulations that the Minister may, or must make in terms of this Act;

The publication of an annual employment services report; and

Any other matter related to employment services, on request of the Minister or NEDLAC.

The ES Board’s inauguration follows its appointment by the Minister of Employment and Labour on 10 April 2023, the term of which will end on 31 March 2028.
