Employment Solo Sees AI as Step in Rethinking Firm’s Operations - Law.com

To Kyle T. MacDonald, adding AI was a logical step because he decided to build his firm around technology from day one.

The solo who represents employment-law plaintiffs in Minnesota and Florida didn’t want tech just to be a workaround, but more of a strategic advantage. In his eyes, it would make his firm more competitive with others.

MacDonald says he uses Lexis+ with Protégé for a range of tasks, from undertaking legal research to assessing whether he wants to take on a particular case.

His advice to attorneys is to go beyond only viewing AI as a tool that enhances existing work processes. “Start thinking about it as a fundamental redesign of how your practice operates,” he says.

Attorneys who “figure that out now are going to have an enormous head start,” he adds.
