Eoghan McDermott refutes "false allegations" made against him in statement - JOE.ie

Eoghan McDermott has issued a statement on Twitter in relation to false allegations made against him by a former partner, with whom he was involved in a relationship a number of years ago.

Posting on Twitter for the first time in over a year, the former RTÉ 2FM presenter made reference to allegations that were spread widely "despite not being investigated or verified", the effects of which McDermott said he was "still processing".

A few months ago, false allegations were made about me. Despite not being investigated or verified, these allegations were spread widely, the effects of which I am still processing. I hope the below can close this chapter.

"A few months ago, false allegations were made about me," McDermott wrote online.

"Despite not being investigated or verified, these allegations were spread widely, the effects of which I am still processing.

"I hope the below can close this chapter."

Following the tweet, the contents of a letter sent to McDermott from Mary Cowhey & Co. Solicitors was also published.

The letter stated that false allegations were made about McDermott on social media on Twitter in March of last year.
