Sarah Ransome, one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most widely known victims, received a settlement of 1 million dollars in early 2024, according to newly released documents from the U.S. Department of Justice, Leeuwarder Courant reports. Ransome, 41, now lives in Súdwest-Fryslân and married last year in Bolsward.

The settlement, minus 75,000 dollars in legal fees paid to a New York law firm, came from the Epstein JPM Fund, likely affiliated with JPMorgan Chase. The documents indicate the payment was intended as compensation for “physical injury.” Funds were disbursed in installments.

Ransome, born in 1984 in Johannesburg, South Africa, has been in the public eye for nearly a decade. She testified against Epstein in 2017 and reached an earlier undisclosed settlement in 2018. Epstein was arrested again in July 2019 on separate charges and died a month later in his New York jail cell.

Ransome arrived in New York at age 22 to pursue a fashion career. She said she was recruited under false pretenses to Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James, in 2006, where she alleges she was held and sexually assaulted multiple times.

Ransome also noted connections to Friesland in correspondence with former U.S. President Donald Trump. She referenced her father-in-law, who worked on the yacht Princess, built by Trump in Makkum in the late 1980s.
