Eric Swalwell, a Democratic congressman for California, has suspended his gubernatorial bid for the Golden State in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct from numerous women.
“To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past,” Swalwell, who represents the state’s 14th district and had been considered a frontrunner in the race for governor, announced in a post on X. “I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s.”
