An 'erratic' mum who attacked three police officers after wrongly convincing herself a man was a sex offender has avoided jail. 'Paranoid' Simone Fletcher dialled 999 and called police out to her own home in the after fearing she was not 'safe'.
But she refused to calm down and hit out at officers - kicking, biting and digging her nails into their skin when they tried to restrain her. At one point, the 34-year-old even managed to free herself from handcuffs and escaped from the caged police van she had been put in.
heard how Fletcher called police out to her home in Buckingham Road, , at about 8.40pm on July 20 last year.
The convict began 'pacing up and down' and convinced herself 'someone' was behind her so stood in the corner of the room so they could not 'get her'. She went outside and continued to make false allegations as officers tried to calm her down, prosecutor Howard Searle said.
The mum then ran out of the house with her child, crossing the road without checking for oncoming traffic on the 'quiet' street. Officers then restrained her but she resisted efforts and continued to display 'paranoid behaviour'.
Fletcher then kicked one officer to the leg and bit his arm before scratching another officer and digging her nails into their wrist. They deployed PAVA spray and handcuffed the defendant before putting her in the back of their caged van.
But she managed to free herself from the handcuffs and escaped from the van, the court heard on Friday (January 13)....
