Even Israel Adesanya's Nutritionist Hates Alleged False Claims of ... - Sportsmanor

Israel Adesanya is one of the biggest athletes on the PRIME Hydration roster. Alongside featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski, he was one of the first officially signed athletes by the brand. However, their nutritionist, Jordan Sullivan is not particularly keen about the drink.

Recently, YouTuber and nutrition coach James Smith made a video on why PRIME is not a legitimate ‘hydration drink’. Whilst Smith explains why it is not recommended for a BJJ practitioner such as himself, he brings in Jordan Sullivan for his expert opinion as well. For those unaware, Sullivan has worked closely with Israel Adesanya, Alexander Volkanovski, and numerous other UFC athletes.

According to the nutritionist, “The way that PRIME is formulated, you’re going the opposite way of getting in. That’s why the comparison that PRIME makes with other drinks is so ridiculous. Every drink that they compare themselves with has way better hydrating or sports drink properties than they do.” Whilst the drink is an enjoyable one to have, it cannot and should not be labeled as a ‘sports drink’.

To make things clearer, Sullivan further explains how fluids that are ingested into the stomach, enter the bloodstream through specialized entry points in its wall. Notably, it is the presence of an optimal balance of sodium and glucose in an energy drink facilitates this process effectively. As it turns out, the way PRIME is formulated, it fails to do this effectively, defeating its very purpose.
