A former undercover agent claims he tipped off Australia’s domestic spy agency that the alleged gunman behind December’s Bondi terrorist attack had become radicalised six years earlier, amid questions over how the perpetrators had slipped off authorities’ radar and obtained firearms.
The claims, aired by the ABC on Monday night, sparked an extraordinary pre-emptive rebuttal from the Australian Security and Intelligence Organisation which said the Four Corners was relying on the word of a “disgruntled” source making false claims.
