BOWLING GREEN, Mo. – Prosecutors say a former Bowling Green police chief knowingly made false statements – both publicly and under oath – that accused a sheriff’s deputy of serious crimes in a high-profile missing person case, according to newly-filed court documents.
On Friday, the Missouri Attorney General’s Office charged Tylor Bounds, 39, of Bowling Green, Missouri, with two felony and four misdemeanor charges:
The charges come after Bounds, the former Bowling Green police chief, held a news conference in March and spoke one-on-one with FOX 2’s Chris Hayes in November about an alleged cover-up by a Pike County (Missouri) Sheriff’s Deputy.
According to a Missouri Highway Patrol probable cause statement, in February 2025, while serving as Bowling Green’s police chief, Bounds attempted to insert himself in the Pike County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation of a missing person. The missing person, 23-year-old Nathaniel Mueller, was found deceased on Feb. 28, 2025 just outside the Bowling Green Police Department’s jurisdiction, according to the probable cause statement.
“Keys still in the ignition – running; air conditioning on full blast,” Mueller’s godmother, Ashley Ashby, told us. “There’s somebody out here that knows what happened.”
