Discrimination, corruption, and wasteful contracts are just some of the allegations a former high-ranking Wayne County official alleges in a lawsuit

If George Goff is right, those of us who live in Wayne County have a bigger problem than Executive Warren Evans' leadership team needing a serious dose of sensitivity training.
Goff sued the county and three top officials on April 24, alleging discrimination and retaliation based on his sexual orientation. He also alleged rampant public corruption, including regular "under the table" payments to people who don't work for the county or provide services, millions of dollars in "wasteful, useless contracts," improper payments to dead people and others, and a first lady acting like a gangster.
These are serious allegations from a former high-ranking official — Goff was the county's director of Strategic Sourcing and Engagement — that should cause investigators who work for the Wayne County Prosecutor, the Michigan Attorney General and the Federal Bureau of Investigations to buy Goff the libation of his choice to keep his whistle whet while he spills his guts about everything he knows about the conduct cited in his lawsuit.
Evans also should call for an investigation, even though his spokesman told me the county has already looked into some of Goff's allegations and determined all is right in the C-suite.
Doda Lulgjuraj, Evans' director of communications, would not discuss Goff's specific claims, however.
