YORK, Maine — The former director of York Hospital’s laboratory is suing the hospital in federal court, alleging he was illegally fired in retaliation for raising safety concerns and in violation of age‑discrimination laws.
Marc Dube, who led the lab from 2018 until his termination in 2023, claims he was dismissed the day after he insisted the hospital temporarily pause lab operations because staff were not following required protocols. His attorney, Laura White, writes in the complaint that Chief Operating Officer Kimberly Metcalf — described in the suit as having little respect for Dube — fired him the next day.
