A March 8 Instagram video (direct link, archived link) shows billionaire Bill Gates seated for an interview.
The video shows the interviewer first accusing Gates of stealing the idea for the operating system Windows from another person. Then the conversation turns to the topic of COVID-19.
"You have been a major spokesperson for COVID vaccines during the pandemic," says the voice of the interviewer. “What exactly makes you – a computer engineer who didn’t even program his initial product himself – a valid representative of the pharmaceutical industry?"
"I have read a lot of books about that topic … and met with specialists from the field all over the world," Gates’ voice says.

The video’s audio has been digitally edited. In the authentic video, Gates does not mention the COVID-19 vaccine or the origins of Microsoft. Instead, he discusses climate change, pandemic preparedness and misinformation.
