Fact
Newschecker first ran a keyword search for “Azerbaijan PM woman meeting touching”, which did not lead us to any credible news reports about such an incident.
Moreover, we learnt that the current Azerbaijan PM is Ali Asadov (left), whom we can clearly see is not the same man in the viral video (right).
We then ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to this BBC report, dated April 22, 2021, sharing a screengrab of the viral video. According to the report, translated from Azerbaijani, former MP Huseynbala Miralimov was dismissed from all his positions in the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) and from the university where he worked as a professor due to a “video” showing his unethical behaviour towards a woman believed to be his employee.
A similar report can be seen here, dated April 30, 2021, on the video, which had sparked a debate about sexual harassment in Azerbaijan. X posts from April 2021 by foreign media outlets, sharing the same video, can be seen here and here, further confirming that the viral claim is false.
