A viral image of American President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris on the cover of TIME magazine is doing rounds on social media recently. The headline of the magazine allegedly calls them out to be ‘The most unpopular duo in the US political history’, and users are sharing the image claiming it to be the October 2022 issue of the magazine.
A Facebook user posted the viral picture with the caption:
America’s superiority fell with the World Trade Center in 2001, when Bush started a 20 yr. War of population control. Our current administration has been involved for 20% of America’s Existence.
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral picture and found the claim to be false.
If an esteemed magazine like TIME had made such remarks on the President and the Vice-President of the USA, it would have made headlines everywhere. But we could not find a single news article about the same.
Searching further we noticed that October 2022 is written on the top right corner of the magazine, indicating it to be the October issue. Taking a cue from this we visited the official website of TIME to check the cover picture on the last month’s issues. The images on both the isues of October 2022 do not match with the viral image hinting that the latter has been edited.
Searching further, to check the authenticity of the viral image we ran a Reverse Image Search and landed on the article for The Person of the Year 2020 on the website of TIME, where the magazine awarded the title to...
