Fact Check: False Claim of ABC Whistleblower’s Death Circulates After Harris-Trump Debate - Newsmobile

Days after the US presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump by ABC News, a claim has been widely shared on social media alleging that an “ABC whistleblower,” who supposedly revealed that Kamala Harris received the debate questions in advance, has died in a car crash.

Several social media posts have amplified this claim, stating: “Holy s**t! The ABC whistleblower who claimed Kamala Harris was given debate questions ahead of the debate has died in a car crash, according to news reports.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral claim and found it to be false.

Firstly, no credible news sources have reported the existence of a “whistleblower” or any authentic “report” or “affidavit” supporting this claim.

An initial investigation reveals that the claim gained widespread attention after US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene shared it on her official X (formerly Twitter) profile on September 15, 2024. She informed her followers that a self-proclaimed whistleblower, who had previously alleged that the ABC debate between Harris and Trump was rigged, had supposedly died in a car crash, without any substantial evidence.
