The article was shared more than 1,000 times in a week on Facebook, according to Crowd Tangle, a social media analytics tool.

While Gates' has invested in a lab-grown meat company, the article misrepresents the findings of a series of studies that relate to a completely different product – a plant-based meat alternative. There is no evidence that lab-grown meat causes cancer, according to experts.
News Punch is a frequent source of misinformation that has published fabricated stories on a number of topics. USA TODAY has debunked its claims that Hillary Clinton wanted to ban the use of cash, that the U.S. government acknowledged 5G radiation causes COVID-19 and that Gates tweeted in support of adding vaccines to the food supply.
