Fact check: False claim that video shows poll worker committing fraud - USA TODAY

The claim: Video shows voter fraud at a polling station in Philadelphia

The midterm elections have sparked claims on social media about voter fraud. One of these claims purports that an incident of voter fraud was caught on camera and aired on television.

An Instagram user shared a video of a Fox News segment featuring a poll worker marking ballots at a polling station.

"Philly election crimes by Democrats," reads the text at the top of the Nov. 10 post. "How Democrats keep winning elections."

The post garnered more than 200 likes in four days. Similar versions have been shared on Instagram.

The claim is false. The video shows a poll worker in Madison, Wisconsin, initialing and marking ballots to indicate which ward they were cast in, according to the county clerk. It is part of the verification process required by law. The video has no connection to Philadelphia or any form of fraud.

USA TODAY reached out to the social media user who shared the post for comment.

The video was not captured in Philadelphia. Though the Fox News segment initially showed the outside of East Passyunk Community Center, located in Philadelphia, the clip posted on social media was filmed in Madison, Wisconsin, according to a label at the top of the screen.
