New Delhi (Vishvas News). Following the murder of a 5-year-old child in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, two videos are going viral on social media. One video shows a clash between police and protesters, while the other shows a mob. Both videos are being shared with the claim that migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are being chased out of Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar.
Vishvas News investigated and found the first viral video to be from Indonesia, while the second has been online for over a month and a half. Both videos are being shared with false claims. No such incidents have been reported in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also assured that security will be provided in this matter.
Instagram user ‘b_r_a_n_d_e_d_k_a_m_n_a’ posted the video (archived link) on September 17, 2025, with the caption, “Punjabis are chasing away all Biharis, this is a scene from Hoshiarpur, Punjab.”
The video has ‘Nepal’ written on it in Punjabi.
Another user, ‘its_saroj_9588’, posted a video of the mob (archive link) claiming it to be from Jalandhar, with the caption, “Punjab people are chasing away people from UP and Bihar…”
To verify the viral claim, we reviewed both videos separately.
