Fact Check-Report on ‘CDC whistleblower’ saying vaccines ‘never meant to stop COVID’ from satirical website - Reuters India

Social media users are sharing a hoax article quoting an alleged former U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) worker as saying vaccines were “never meant to stop” COVID-19.

The report was originally published on a website that has repeatedly spread false information.

The story was published on Jan. 11, 2022 ( archive.ph/8isxe) on Real Raw News and has since been amplified on other sites online ( archive.ph/6rJPB ) and on social media ( here ), ( here ), ( here ).

Real Raw News has history of publishing fabricated stories about well-known public figures. Reuters has previously addressed several of its stories, including a false one about U.S. Air Force pilots resigning over COVID-19 vaccine mandates ( here ).

It often reports false trials and deaths and attributes its information to unidentified “sources” or “whistleblowers” ( here ), ( here ), ( here ), ( here ), ( here ), ( here ).

The website states in its ‘About Us’ section ( here ) that: “Information on this website is for informational and educational and entertainment purposes. This website contains humor, parody, and satire. We have included this disclaimer for our protection, on the advice of legal counsel.”

The CDC did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

VERDICT

False. A report about a “CDC whistleblower” revealing vaccines were “never meant to stop” COVID-19 comes from a website that has spread false stories and describes its information as containing “satire.”
