False claim: Civil servant charged - Daily Express

Kota Kinabalu: A 52-year-old civil servant was charged with making a false claim for the supply of carpentry equipment amounting to RM17,150. Md Jaidi Jaafar Jabau pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga on Wednesday. Md Jaidi is accused of giving the false company invoice, a company delivery order dated Aug 3, 2017 and purchase order of Lembaga Perindustrian Kayu Malaysia Sabah (MTIB) dated July 26, 2017 in which the details on the document were fake at the Finance Unit of MTIB, here on Aug 14, 2017. The charge stated that Md Jaidi who was Economic Affairs Assistant Officer of MTIB, submitted the document to claim for the supply of 49 units of cordless drill which was actually not fully supplied. The offence, under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act, provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and fine of up to five times the value of the false claims, or RM10,000, whichever is higher, if found guilty. The court set Nov 22 this year for pre-trial case management and released Md Jaidi on a bail of RM10,000 with RM2,000 deposited in a local surety. Md Jaidi was also ordered to report himself to the SPRM Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s office once in two months until disposal of his case and to surrender his international passport, if any, to the court.
