WAYNE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is warning the public of a false post about kidnapped children that is circulating online.
A copy of the post reads, "Missing Kidnapped Please Help!!!" and "I haven't seen my kids in the last week. My mother kidnapped them." The poster asks anyone with information to contact them.
An image is included in the post, but the faces have been covered. It shows four individuals, including a young child.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) writes that the claims in this post are completely false, and the children are safely in the custody of a trusted individual.
Further, WCSO stated that the individuals responsible for the post could face charges for spreading false or misleading information to the public.
These potential charges would fall under emergency reporting abuse, the sheriff's office notes.
