False claims law could prevent PA daycare scandal like Minnesota's | opinion - York Daily Record

How could a YouTuber uncover a multi-billion dollar fraud scandal in a state run by someone who stood months ago as the vetted Democratic nominee for vice president in Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz?

Taxpayers were rightfully dismayed and even outraged when reports out of Minneapolis profiled fraudulent day care centers receiving significant federal and state funding to subsidize childcare. Federal prosecutors are estimating more than $9 billion meant to help working families was allegedly siphoned off through fake children, fabricated attendance records, and sham daycare operations.

Despite the outrage and fervor in Minnesota, we have yet to see a group of parents express discontent that their local day care center has closed.

Now, we are seeing other YouTubers go to daycares in urban areas to see if this is an isolated incident of complete failure by the Walz Administration in Minnesota, or a nationwide trend.

What we do know is the man who finished behind Gov. Walz in last year’s veepstakes, Gov. Josh Shapiro, as Pennsylvania Attorney General, argued it is likely the commonwealth has approximately $3 billion in fraud and improper payments within our state’s Medicaid program.
