On social media platform X, a claim is going viral. An account named ‘TacticalTribun’ posted the viral claim on 1 August 2025. The user claimed “Khalistani sources say Sukhi chahal, an Indian RAW officer, died mysteriously in the USA. India says it was a “heart attack”.”
Another user on X, with the username ‘akbaraziz607’ posted a similar claim.
At DFRAC, we investigated the viral claim and found it to be misleading. We verified media reports and official government sources and could not find any evidence of Sukhi Chahal being identified as a RAW officer or occupying a position linked to the Indian intelligence agency.
In our research we came across an article of ‘Patiala politics’ published on 1 August 2025. The title of the article says “Sukhi Chahal has passed away due to a heart attack”. The article also informs that “Sukhi Chahal, Founder & Chairman of Punjab Foundation, USA, and a staunch anti-Khalistan voice, has passed away due to a heart attack.”
We also found a statement of ‘Jagbanionline’ on X from 1 August 2025. The statement is (Translated in English) “Prominent businessman Sukhi Chahal passes away, founded Punjab Foundation and The Khalsa Today”.
Hence, it is confirmed that the viral statement is misleading. In the article of Patiala Politics or in the post of Jagbani Online there is no information that Sukhi Chahal was an Indian RAW officer.
