In the Polish information space, disinformation messages about alleged mass deaths of Polish soldiers on Ukrainian territory are appearing. According to the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, this information is spread through posts on Telegram and other channels that seek to manipulate public opinion.
Former Polish judge Tomasz Schmidt, who is wanted on suspicion of spying for Belarus and who has obtained Belarusian citizenship, published a Facebook post with photos of coffins, claiming that “hundreds of bodies have arrived in Poland,” and that NATO forces within the Coalition of the Willing allegedly sustained heavy losses in Donbas at the beginning of 2026

Image analysis indicates their forgery: the first image is AI-generated, as confirmed by checks of relevant services, and the second photo is real, but has nothing to do with Ukraine – it dates back to 2011 and records the arrival of the bodies of Polish soldiers who died in Afghanistan.
