PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - The family of a Boeing whistleblower from Pineville filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the airline company, KALB learned on Friday.
NBC News reported the family of John Barnett filed a civil action complaint on Wednesday, March 19, in Charleston, South Carolina.
John Barnett died on March 9th, 2024, in Charleston from ‘self inflicted injuries’, according to the Associated Press.
NBC News said Boeing now faces a civil action complaint which alleges wrongful death and abuse of process through harassment and intimidation.
Barnett, who was a quality manager for 17 of his 32 years at Boeing, filed a whistleblower complaint in 2017 after he claimed the company retaliated against him for attempting to document sub-standard parts and oxygen systems.
Brian Knowles and Rob Turkewitz, the legal team representing Barnett’s family, shared this statement with KALB:
