FAR-right groups are spreading fake claims on social media to stoke fear and division as anti-refugee demos are organised across Ireland, a councillor claims.

Protesters including some far right groups are plotting anti-refugee demos across Dublin for tomorrow – threatening to bring a string of areas to “a standstill”.

Pickets against migrants are planned across Dublin for 5pm including Ballymun, East Wall, Clondalkin, Crumlin, Kimmage, Islandbridge and Baldoyle.

Other groups are also organising events in Fermoy, Co Cork, Killarney, Kildare and Waterford.

Leaflet drops are continuing in many areas with the message “Ireland is full” and calling for an end to “undocumented, unvetted, uncontrolled immigration”.

It comes after shocking videos emerged on social media at the weekend of a crowd gathered outside a hotel in Ballymun where refugee families were living, chanting “get them out”.

Now some far-right activists have vowed to ramp up their protests tomorrow by launching a number of demos across the country.

The protests include far-right activists such as anti-immigration National Party and Irish Freedom Party.

In response many community groups are opposing the protests.

Keith Connolly, Fianna Fail Councillor for the Finglas ,Glasnevin and Ballymun area, told the Irish Sun the demos did not represent the majority of local residents.
