FARGO — An indefinitely suspended FBI agent turned FBI whistleblower was the keynote speaker at a Fargo Area Conservatives gun raffle on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Avalon Events Center.
In May, Garret O'Boyle testified before the House Judiciary Committee's Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government on alleged anti-conservative bias in the FBI.
House Democrats accused him of lying to Congress about leaking sensitive information to right-wing group Project Veritas before he was suspended.
Tickets for the dinner portion of the event where he spoke sold out, but tickets for the gun raffle were being sold at the door.
WDAY News talked to O'Boyle ahead of the event about his presentation.
"I'm going to touch on some of what I saw inside the agency, and some ways on how to fix it, hopefully, if we can. And just mainly to focus on celebrating freedom and bring some light to some of the corruption going on inside our government," O'Boyle said.
He also said his message is about helping people to speak up for their beliefs.
"I think in part what has happened in this country is truth has fallen silent in the public square. And so hopefully I can help encourage people to stand up for the truth, and that's really, in a way, why I am here," O'Boyle said.
WDAY News reached out to the North Dakota Democratic-NPL for comment on the gun raffle and O'Boyle. They say they'd prefer not to comment.
