Fast food employee's act of kindness rewarded: Digs through trash to find customer's missing denture - FOX 29

When it comes to a quick bite to eat after work, Craig Paulk likes to hop over to the Long John Silver's at I-10 and De Zavala Road.

"It's comfort,” he told Fox SA’s Ryan Wolf. “It's familiar. It's what, you know, we had growing up."

He typically grabs a drink. Picks a table. And then takes a certain precaution with his partial denture before every first bite.

“I had my front tooth broken about five years ago,” he explained. “And it's just something I've never gotten accustomed to. So, I take it out and usually fold it up in a napkin and set it to the side."

It's exactly what went down on August 21st. But after his meal on that day, Craig said something felt off.

“I got to the car, and I was like something's wrong, something's missing,” he explained. “And it took a second until it finally clicked, and I realized I had thrown my partial away."

It was a potential $600 dollar mistake! Not to mention the down time without his tooth while a new one gets made. The 44-year-old was convinced he needed to dig through the trash. But the assistant manager wouldn't have it.

“I had asked her if she could give me the bag of trash and I would just take it and be on my way,” he explained, “and dig, you know, search for it myself. And she said, ‘no. I'll get it.’ I said, no, really? That's okay. You don't have to do that. And she said, ‘no, I insist.'"
