FDR Made the Depression Great Again - WSJ - The Wall Street Journal

An exotic bird landed on American soil 90 years ago Tuesday. At first the public celebrated the Blue Eagle emblem, symbol of President Franklin Roosevelt’s ambitious agenda to improve the economy. The eagle became ubiquitous in store fronts, advertisements and movie trailers. In September 1933, 1.5 million people lined the streets of New York City for a nine-hour Blue Eagle parade.
