Civil rights and employment litigation law firm Buckley Beal has filed a federal lawsuit against consumer credit reporting agency Equifax after a former employee alleged he was fired from the company for exposing alleged attempts to falsify credit reports.

The agency, located in Atlanta, reportedly attempted to provide false information to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Stephen Leary, an internal auditor for Equifax from 2018 to 2020, alleged that his employer clearly violated laws set by the CFPB and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
