WEST SPRINGFIELD — Local automobile repair shops say the state’s vehicle repair data law — which federal regulators said could be implemented with some changes — will help ensure they can work on vehicles even as they grow more and more high-tech.

This week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration decided to let the state’s “right to repair” law take force under pressure from state officials and U.S. senators Edward Markey and Elizabeth Warren.
