FG Continues Prosecution of Man Who ‘Exposed Organ Harvesting’ in the Police’ - FIJ NG

Nnamdi Emeh, an IT specialist who used to work with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and has been detained since May 2023 for exposing organ harvesting in the force, is set to appear in court on Tuesday.

Emeh was arrested on March 3, 2023, in Benin Republic through an Interpol Red Notice. He was returned to Nigeria days later.

After his return, he was charged with fraud, money laundering, impersonation, unlawful possession of a firearm and defamation.

He was first detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja before getting transferred to Awka. He has been held at the Awka Correctional Centre since May 2023.

His arrest and detention have led to international calls for respect for his human rights.

He last appeared in the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, on December 9, 2025, where the case was adjourned until April.

This happened, despite the fact that the court granted him bail in May 2023 and gave an order for his release in May 2024.

At his latest court appearance, presided over by Evelyn Anyadike, Emeh’s lawyer, Justus Ijeoma, reminded the court that the bail granted by a previous judge had not been honoured.

The court adjourned the case until April 2026, instructing the prosecution to produce all witnesses at the next hearing and effectively extending his detention for another four months.
