An FIR has been filed against a woman for allegedly disseminating misleading information and attempting to attribute a communal motive to the Yamuna Expressway bus fire incident in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, which resulted in nine fatalities, police confirmed.
The complaint was lodged at the Cyber Crime Police Station by Sub-Inspector Sumit Kumar of the media cell. According to the complaint, the woman shared images and videos of the bus fire alongside false claims that members of the BJP and RSS set the bus alight targeting minority communities.
Authorities stated that these claims were untrue and could potentially incite fear, anger, and mistrust among the public towards the administration, thus affecting public peace and law and order. Following the FIR registration, the woman removed the post from the social media platform X and issued an apology, admitting the tweet was posted in error.
The Cyber Crime Police Station has initiated an investigation into the matter.
The Yamuna Expressway bus fire took place in Greater Noida and resulted in nine deaths. Earlier, on September 24, three individuals—two drivers and a conductor—were produced before the District and Sessions Court in Surajpur and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the case.
The drivers were accused of allegedly smoking inside the bus prior to the incident. However, both drivers denied these allegations while being taken to court, stating, “No, this is wrong. We don’t smoke at all.”...
