DOYLESTOWN, PA—A Central Bucks administrator fired over the handling of the abuse of nonverbal autistic children at Jamison Elementary School has filed a lawsuit saying she was used as a scapegoat for the district’s mistakes.
Alyssa Wright, former director of pupil services with the Central Bucks School District, is arguing that the district illegally retaliated against her after she filed a whistleblower report about the abuse of children. Wright’s 86-page lawsuit, which was filed on Sept. 18, claims that she was punished for advocating for children in the classroom at Jamison elementary.
Wright refers to Central Bucks officials and its school board “as nothing but an utterly slow-moving, inactive failure.” Her complaint says the district didn’t promptly remove teaching staff accused of abuse even after she repeatedly suggested it. The lawsuit includes e-mails in which Wright argues for removing classroom staff accused of abuse.
Wright also said that the district let its internal investigation proceed too slowly and that officials failed to address complaints about district officials and leaders retaliating against people like her who were critical.
Instead, Wright’s complaint says, the district “watched serious problems unfold and continue as if they were an audience in a reality TV show.”
