A San Ramon psychiatrist was awarded $1.7 million in a whistleblower retaliation case after he was fired from his job with San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services for reporting discrepancies to the state.

The jury reached a verdict at the conclusion of a weekslong trial in San Joaquin County Superior Court on Dec. 19.
