KOTA KINABALU: Five people faced a total of 23 charges at the Special Corruption Court here on Wednesday (Sept 30) over allegations of submitting documents containing false particulars and using forged documents to obtain payments for house repair works under the Hardcore Poor Housing Programme (PPRT).
The accused, comprising four men and a woman, pleaded not guilty separately before Judge Andi Razalijaya A. Dadi to charges under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009. The woman also faced additional forgery charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code.
All offences were committed at the GiatMara office in Kota Kinabalu in 2021 with the claims and invoices involved amounts ranging from about RM14,000 to RM15,000 for individual projects carried out in 2021.
Judge Andi Razalijaya granted bail ranging from RM10,000 to RM20,000. The accused were also ordered to report to the MACC monthly, surrender their passports and refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses.
Aidah Mustapha, 54, faced the highest number of charges, with 11 counts comprising five offences under the MACC Act and six under the Penal Code.
Five charges under Section 18 of the MACC Act relate to the alleged submission of invoices worth between RM14,996.50 and RM15,000 for PPRT repair works in April 2021 that allegedly did not comply with the required BQ.
