Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia announced the arrest of Torey Jermaine Keith, who is accused of submitting more than $159,000 in fraudulent health insurance claims.
The Florida Department of Financial Services’ Criminal Investigations Division began investigating after Keith’s insurance company reported that it was unable to verify several claims he had submitted.
Investigators said Keith filed 15 health insurance claims that were counterfeit, altered or otherwise fraudulent in an effort to obtain reimbursements. The insurance company paid Keith a total of $159,557.50 based on the allegedly false claims.
“When criminals submit fraudulent claims, they aren’t just stealing, they are driving up the costs and insurance premiums for Floridians and their families across the state,” Ingoglia said. “This arrest serves as a warning for criminals who try to exploit the insurance system for their own financial gain.”
Ingoglia added that state investigators would continue pursuing individuals suspected of committing insurance fraud.
Keith was arrested on June 11, 2026. He faces charges of making false and fraudulent insurance claims, uttering a forged instrument and engaging in an organized scheme to defraud.
The charges are allegations, and Keith is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
