Evelyn Webster, the chief executive officer of SoulCycle, the indoor cycling fitness company, said she constantly feels the push from her employees to speak out about the social or political crisis of the day.
“It is the single biggest criticism I receive from my teammates: Why are you not commenting on everything that happened, because it’s all outrageous and egregious and we’re up in arms — Roe v. Wade, the war in Ukraine, senseless murders,” she said. “If I did what they asked me to do, I would comment on absolutely every world event.”
