Foreign woman detained after false child abduction claims - Khmer Times

A mentally disturbed foreign woman – who made false claims on social media that her child had been abducted in Phnom Penh’s Central Market – has been detained by police

Brigadier General San Sok Seiha, spokesman for the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, stated that after the woman’s claims, the Press and Quick Reaction Team has been working together to find out the truth alongside the specialized force of the Office of Investigation and Implementation of the Immigration Work Plan in collaboration with The Kok Khleang Administrative Police Station in Sen Sok District

The Brigadier General stated that, in fact, that the woman had lost her child in Central Market on on April 20, 2023

The director of Central Market had seen the 3-year-old boy wandering alone in Central Market looking for his parents, so the police contacted NGO Mith Samlanh – AKA Friends International – to take care of him.

Police then contacted the woman’s relatives in China who confirmed that the woman has had mental issues for many years including neurosis

After the interrogation, the authorities reported to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, as well as preparing the relevant documents, continued the procedure, sent to the General Department of Immigration and asked for guidance from the authorities to deport the woman and her child from the Kingdom of Cambodia.
